We’ve been to the nearby city of Nottingham a couple of times recently. Last week, we went to see Nottingham castle. An enthusiastic tour guide showed us around and filled us with history. Unfortunately, the original castle was demolished during the civil war to prevent Cromwell from controlling the strategic crossing of [...]

We went swimming at the Badkap waterpark on our last day in Albstadt. Badkap is an enormous swimming pool complex with a giant wave pool, slides, and a warm waterfall flowing along a winding river through the wall and continuing outside. There is also a huge waterslide called the Blackhole.
We all loved [...]

Translation: Merry Christmas!
Petra’s parents, Artur and Waltroud, were wonderful hosts and generously made us welcome in their gracious home as part of their family. We all feel so grateful to the Schweitzers for sharing the holidays with us.

We arrived back from our trip to Germany yesterday afternoon. We had a wonderful time celebrating the winter holidays with Petra’s family in Albstadt.  Petra’s parents are very gracious hosts and we felt welcome in their home.  The kids certainly enjoyed playing with their friends for almost a whole week!

I’ve got so many things to be thankful for that it’s hard to know where to start.
I’m so thankful for our wonderful family and friends. It was so nice to arrive home. Sitting around the table with good food and [...]

I love this video and these memories from our camping trip to Cape Cod this past summer.  Singing around the campfire is one of my favorite things in the whole world.  This was one of the songs we did with our family chorus.  What a brilliant trip!

On Friday, we went to an children’s event at the local museum. There were lots of kids there; if fact, it was a bit crowded. The event itself was lackluster, but the museum seems pretty nice. They have collections of local Derby porcelain, Egyptian artifacts, paintings, and local biology and geology. [...]

The hardest part about leaving western Massachusetts is not seeing these people regularly.  Our friends and family are so amazing!  It’s hard to imagine having survived the past eight months without them.  So many people have been so wonderfully supportive.  In particular, I want to send my heart-felt thanks to Susan – one could not [...]
