We went to River’s school concert tonight. She played a duet she’s been working on with her friend Grace.

She recently joined the strings ensemble.  They played this piece:

We’ve all been very busy recently.  Here are some of the piano pieces River has been playing recently.  Actually, I think she’s just been playing these from one of her books rather than learning them for her lessons.
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
The Can-Can
We had been learning Spanish in Massachusetts, but the kids have started French at Foremarke.  [...]

The kids both had special activities at school on Friday to kick off the long weekend. Sage and her classmates sold cakes for [...]

Sage has been interested in cooking recently.  She’s particularly excited about cookies and pancakes and other things that need to be mixed and stirred and generally turn out to be fairly sweet.  Her enthusiasm fit nicely with the request to bring cakes into school for a charity coffee morning.  She picked the recipe out from [...]

River has been conducting some polls of friends and family recently and compiled the results today.

Chocolate, by the way, was a popular write-in candidate and thus added to the survey. She made the graphs at the National Center for Education Statistics’ Create-A-Graph website. If you’d like to be added to her email list [...]

Sage reported her first cello lesson was great! She was very excited to show us what she had learned. This is the first piece in her music book.

River started a drama course today. They are planning a production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. She’s also [...]

Many of the fields near our house are glowing with the brilliant flowers of the rapeseed plant. Their yellow blanket gives a cheery feel to the landscape

The kids are back at school beginning this week. They were talking about which class they like best the other day and ended up listing them all [...]

Molly and Sage have both been quite ill with a vicious flu this week. River and I haven’t succumbed yet; hopefully the worst of that affliction is past. In the midst of her febrile state, Molly managed to pass the pre-grading test for her black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has [...]
