We took advantage of the snowfall on New Year’s Eve to visit Hospital Hill, the classic sledding hill from my childhood. The old state hospital is being renovated into mixed-use residential and commercial space, but the hill stills draws a crowd looking to fly at high speed down an enormous hill on flimsy pieces of plastic.
We borrowed loads of sleds from our neighbors and brought some friends along to enjoy the snow.
We’ve just gotten a big snow storm in England as I write. It’s the biggest storm in 18 years, apparently, but here in the midlands at least we’ve only got a couple inches of snow.
Sledding sure is fun!
Everyone was really brave on the big hill, despite Danielle being taken out by some out-of-control kids.
We even got to see my old friend Matt and his family, who were in town from Chicago. I’d never met his youngest daughter, Anjali. She is very cute! It was terrific to see them, though, as always, much too brief a visit.
Eventually, we got tired of sledding… or at least tired of walking up the hill!
