Monday was a bank holiday and we took a couple of days to visit some prehistoric sites in England. We started at Avebury, a huge stone circle that surrounds a little village. Many of the stones are missing, but you can get right up next to them and get a feel for the huge scale of the site.

That last one was for you, Karen!
We spent the night in Salisbury. I’m not particularly keen on old churches, but the Salisbury cathedral is especially striking. We saw it at dusk and the light was amazing, though not the best for photography. Walking down New Street near the cathedral, we noticed the New Pub, built in 1332!

The next day we went to Stonehenge. It is an amazing place. I won’t say to much about it here, though the audio tour that you get with admission was quite good. What a photogenic place!

We had a picnic later overlooking the giant of Cerne Abbas. Hee hee!

And then we drove to Weymouth, watched the sailboats pass under the drawbridge, and spent a few happy, if slightly cool, hours at the beach.

Your Stonehenge visit looks about as atmospheric as ours was, but you missed the sideways, driving (extremely cold) rain part.
I’m glad you have landed, and are already taking vacations.

Dear Sage, River, Molly and Andrew,
I finally got onto your beautiful website of beautiful pictures of family and england, with excellent commentary of your adventures there.
Happy birthday Molly! I hope you are enjoying your new work assignment.
Let me know if River and Sage can use some more cameras, as I have some, but am reluctant to send if they are more a pain than fun.
We got invited to our next year’s Internatinal Marian conference at University College, Newcastle, Sept 9-11. Hope to be able to see you also while there.
I hope this finds you all well. God bless you

We would be delighted to have you visit. I’m not quite sure where Newcastle is yet, but it can’t be too far. England is relatively small!
